When you think of robots, do you think of Rosie from “The Jetsons” or C-3PO and R2-D2 from “Star Wars?” Maybe you think of WALL-E, or the Cylons from “Battlestar Galactica.” Although television and movies usually represent robots as creatures with human-like personalities, most of the real robots today don’t look or act anything like people! Maybe you’ve heard of the da Vinci surgical arm robot, or sea-diving retrieval robots, or even have a Roomba in your home.

Robots like these — electronics with mechanical devices to do particular tasks — are becoming increasingly common, and this camp is your chance to learn how to build and program them! This week-long summer camp will involve students in designing, programming, and testing robots using Lego NXT Robotics gear. The camp will be held on the St. Johnsbury Academy campus and include outdoor activities as well as software and hardware design tasks.
