James Kirlcaldy

Jim Kirkcaldy teaches AP European History in Hingham Massachusetts. In 2015, The Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies selected Jim for the Outstanding Supervisor of the Year Award. Jim has been an active AP workshop leader throughout the U.S. and Canada. In fact, for many years, he did all the AP European History workshops in Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto). He has taught AP European history for over 40 years and has been a reader and table leader for most of those years. He also has presented at numerous AP National conferences. He has published numerous articles on European History and has offered specialized AP European History workshops on intellectual movements, diplomatic history and the integration of art into AP European History. Jim retired as Director of Social Studies in the Hingham Public Schools but continues to teach his AP European History course in Hingham because of has love of teaching and for the opportunity to remain up to date and creative as an AP European History workshop leader. His special interest is in the integration of art into the teaching of European history.
