SJA Faculty member Bill Vinton was awarded the Leonidas A. Nickole Theatre Educator of the Year by The New England Theatre Conference. Fellow faculty member Janet Warner-Ashley presented the award to Vinton.
Longtime St. Johnsbury Academy teacher and theatre producer Bill Vinton was awarded the Leonidas A. Nickole Theatre Educator of the Year by The New England Theatre Conference, Inc. (NETCON) at their annual convention.
According to the NETCON website, "This award recognizes excellence in theatre education at all levels as demonstrated through: 1) Dedication to theatre pedagogy; 2) Innovation in the field; and 3) Achievement throughout a career."
The award was presented by fellow SJA faculty member, Janet Warner-Ashley, who nominated Vinton for the award.
Headmaster Tom Lovett said, "For over 30 years, Bill Vinton has been teaching students all aspects of theater, resulting in some of the most stunning and moving performances in our 175-year history. The fact that so many of his thespians continue to act after the Academy and so many of his stage crew go on to work as stagecraft and theater technicians is a testament to his influence. He has built a tremendous legacy here, and I am so pleased that he has been recognized for it."
