ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS ELIGIBILITY: Applications will be considered from Vermont residents or from St. Andrew's Society of Vermont members and their families, regardless of residency; who will enroll or who are already enrolled in an associate's or a bachelor's degree program. AWARDS: Three (3) grant awards to the institution of thousand dollars ($ 1,000.00) each are available, to be administered by the institution in the name of the winner. SELECTION: Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee on the basis of previous scholastic records, three (3) letters of recommendation, a letter of educational goals and financial need and SAT scores. Past recipients of Academic Scholarships are not eligible. DEADLINE: Must be received by 5:00 pm on February 23, 2018.

The American Legion High School Oratorical Program - New Hampshire

The American Legion strongly encourages any high School student who is a United States citizen to participate because it is designed to create interest, foster appreciation and gain a better understanding of the United States Constitution. Your local American Legion Post or District Oratorical chairman will be contacting your school in the near future to answer any questions you may have about the American Legion Oratorical Contest. The American Legion Oratorical Contest is open to all 9-12 grades students in public, parochial, private, and approved home school programs in New Hampshire. Each high school may select one student to participate in its local American Legion District contest. If your school has a contestant, please contact the local American Legion Post. Contestants will be notified of the district contest date and location. The State finals will be held on March 10, 2018 at St. Anselm College at 9:00am.

Vermont Lions Hart Memorial Award

Knights of Columbus - Vermont State Council

The Knights of Columbus Vermont State Council announces its 48th Annual Scholastic Achievement Awards Program, offering five $1000.00 scholarships to be awarded this year. These awards are made to high school seniors qualifying to graduate in June 2018, to assist in furthering their education at an accredited school or college of their choice. Sons or daughters of a Knight of Columbus (paternal or legally adopted) in good standing in a subordinate Council within the Vermont jurisdiction are eligible. Sons or daughters of deceased members are also eligible if their father was in good standing at the time of his death. An applicant may be a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of a Colombian Squires Circle, in the jurisdiction of Vermont and a high school senior qualifying to graduate in June 2018. Merit scholarships will be awarded to four applicants with the four remaining awards presented to applicants, who in the opinion of the Scholastic Committee are most deserving

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Award

Alice Angney Scholarship Award

In 2018 the Vermont Superintendents Association will award one $2,000 scholarship to a deserving high school senior who resides in Vermont. The recipient will be chosen by a VSA selection committee on the basis of the student's initiative in overcoming a specific challenge, leadership and service to community, and academic achievement. The recipient will demonstrate a commitment to furthering his or her education after high school. The selection committee will meet during the month of April to review applications. The scholarship recipient will be notified during the first week of May regarding his/her selection for the award. The scholarship will be paid upon confirmation of the student's enrollment in a post-secondary educational program.

To apply for the Dr. Alice Angney Scholarship, students must complete the accompanying application form and return it with the required materials to the Vermont Superintendents Association. All materials must be received in the VSA office no later than the end of day, Friday, March 16, 2018.

United Motorcyclists of Vermont

United Motorcyclist of Vermont (UMV) Mission: Dedicated to motorcycle safety, education, awareness, pro motorcyclist legislation and individual freedom. UMV makes available a number of $500 scholarships/education gifts each year. Scholarships are awarded based on membership, community service and involvement, application effort, school involvement and grades, financial need and other considerations. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund

The establishment of the Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund occurred in October, 2001. The scholarship fund is named in honor of Janice Marie Scott to recognize her involvement with various youth programs and community service activities within the Greater Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC. Janice was on of the 125 individuals that perished in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when terrorists hijacked and crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the building of the Pentagon.

The American Legion – Department of Vermont

Ray Greenwood Scholarship up to $1,500; Charles Barber Scholarship up to $1,000; and Ten $500.

The American Legion believes that more students will continue their education if they are given a helping hand. Through the splendid cooperation and support of the entire American Legion Department of Vermont Membership, this scholarship award has been made possible. Seniors attending a Vermont Secondary School, or a similar school in an adjoining state, whose parents are legal residents of the State of Vermont OR seniors residing in an adjacent state whose normal high school attendance area is a Vermont Secondary School. Applicant must be a US Resident.

The American Legion – High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

1st Place: $18,000; 2nd Place: $16,000; and 3rd Place: $14,000; including $1,500 for each State winner.

The purpose of The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program “A Constitutional Speech Contest” is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States among high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, rights, and privileges of American citizenship.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewal, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, their community, or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities.

Sons of the American Legion - Dennis Comai Scholarship

Any student who is planning to attend a trade school or technical college and whose grandfather, grandmother, step grandparents, father, step father, mother, step mother, adopted parents or grandparents and brothers or sisters are a member of the American Legion Family (American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion) are welcome to apply for this scholarship. Four separate scholarships will be awarded --- two in northern Vermont and two in southern Vermont. One scholarship from North and South will be $1,000 each and the other from North and South will be $500 each.

The Fr. Michael J. McGiveny Award - Knights of Columbus Sheridan Council 421

The award of $800 is reserved for high school seniors who are sons or daughters of members of Sheridan Council 421. For an applicant to qualify for an award, the applicant must be the son or daughter (whether by birth or adoption) of a member that is in good standing or a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of his death. The award is also open to applicants who are members of the Knights of Columbus, Sheridan Council 421, in good standing and are high school seniors eligible to graduate in June.

The Sully Handy Vocation Education Award - Knights of Columbus Sheridan Council 421

The award is open to all high school seniors qualifying to graduate in June who are permanent residents of Vermont or New Hampshire. This award is nonsectarian. The award is specifically intended for those students who have pursued technical or vocational studies in their high school education or will pursue technical or vocational studies after graduation from high school - such as an associates or technical degree.

The Louis Bouffard Scholastic Achievement Award - Knights of Columbus Sheridan Council 421

Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund

VGA Scholarship Requirements Scholarships will be granted annually not to exceed the four years that the recipient is enrolled in college. The Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund will determine the number and amount of the scholarships which will be presented each year. Applicant must be a resident of the State of Vermont, graduating from high school, and must be enrolled in, or accepted as a full-time student at a college/university or technical school of university grade. Some of the criteria used for selection are overall financial need, school performance, the applicant's (not family) affiliation to the game of golf; such as competing on a golf team, working at a golf course, or participation in golf programs or events.

Pine Hill Singers' Music Award

The Pine Hill Singers are pleased to offer a music award of $500 to a graduating high school senior whose home residence is in northern New Hampshire or in northern Vermont. The award is open to students attending public or private high schools, as well as those who are being home schooled. Qualifying students must have demonstrated talent and proficiency in music and have shown involvement in school and community performance groups. The award must be used to further the recipients music development. The Pine Hill Singers expect the recipient to provide them with a clear statement on how the money will be used in the essay portion of this application form. Please complete the following application and return it to the Pine Hill Singers with a postmark no later than May 1, 2018. Funds will be disbursed at graduation. Winona Smith Scholarship

These scholarships, in the amount of $1,000, were established to honor Winona Smith, a long-time member of the League of Women Voters of Vermont, who devoted her energies to ensuring that Vermont students receive the best possible education. The awards are presented to a Vermont resident in his or her senior year of high school who has demonstrated an interest in civic participation and community service, who has a need for financial aid, and who is highly recommended by a teacher.

CULTURAL GRANTS - WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Vermont residents or St. Andrew's Society of Vermont members and their families, regardless of residency, who will enroll or who are enrolled in studying Scottish history, language, arts, literature, dance and/or music. AWARDS: One thousand five hundred dollars ($ 1,500.00) is available for cultural grants, to be administered by the institutions in the name of the winner. No recipient will receive more than $500.00. The committee reserves the right to divide the money as they see fit. HOW ARE GRANTS AWARDED? Committee selects on the basis of a statement of need written by the applicant, three letters of reference, a chronology of study and a photocopy of the institution brochure. First-time Cultural Grant applicants will be given preference. DEADLINE: Must be received by 5:00 pm on May 4, 2018

If you are interested in receiving an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and commissioning into the Army Reserve, the Minuteman Scholarship provides you an excellent opportunity. All qualified applicants for ROTC scholarships may apply for consideration for the 4-year Minuteman Scholarship. Each Army Reserve major subordinate command (MSC) can award four Minuteman Scholarships per year. Minuteman Scholarships cover four years of full tuition and fees or $10,000 for room and board at colleges and universities served by an Army ROTC program. The U.S. Army Reserve provides trained, equipped and ready soldiers, leaders, and units to meet America’s requirements at home and abroad.
