The Board of Trustees of St. Johnsbury Academy elected a new board member at their meeting earlier this month: Jesse Laflamme '96 of Hanover, New Hampshire.
Jesse Laflamme is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs, headquartered in Monroe, New Hampshire. The farm was started by Jesse's grandfather, Les Ward, when he came home from World War II after serving as a Lieutenant Commander and dive bomber pilot. Jesse is in the midst of expanding the family's 60-year-old business nationwide. His network of family farmers already produces eggs for Costco, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods' in-house brands, and Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs are stocked in most supermarkets on the east coast. Pete and Gerry's currently partners with over 100 small family farms, runs several processing plants, and employs nearly 200 people. Jesse received a B.A. from Bates College in 2000.
Jay Wright '87, President of the SJA Board of Trustees, said, "We welcome Jesse to the Board as our newest Trustee. He has a strong background and a demonstrated love of the Academy that we believe will add greatly to the Board." Headmaster Tom Lovett continued, "I remember Jesse well from his days as a student here. He was hardworking, full of positive energy, and very bright. I look forward to watching him serve the school as he brings these same traits to his work as a Trustee. We are fortunate to have people like him on the Board."
The Board of Trustees also named Samuel E. Bain, Jr. '64, Marcia D. DeRosia '69, and Gregory E. Boardman '75 Trustees Emeriti.
