Jamal Givens '90 to Speak at Faculty Speaker Series


SJA's Faculty Speaker Series welcomes Jamal Givens '90 on October 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Stuart Black Box Theater. Jamal is a highly-regarded leader, speaker, and teacher in the fields of prevention and mental health and speaks regularly about topics including leadership, anti-bullying, drug education, substance abuse education, suicide prevention, mental health first aid, and teamwork.

Jamal completed a B.A. degree in sociology and minored in criminal justice at the University of Arizona. He earned a Master's in Educational Leadership in Human Affairs at Northern Arizona University. He is a certified trainer (including "train the trainers" certificates) in numerous evidence-based programs including prevention of substance abuse, suicide and wellness promotion.

Assistant Headmaster for Academics, Jeff Burroughs, said, "I am looking forward to welcoming Mr. Givens to campus. Having another alum with such incredible professional experience in our series is a real treat. I am certain his talk will be timely and relevant to our community."
