Class of 2014 Commencement
On June 2, your child will graduate from St. Johnsbury Academy. It is a time of family pride and celebration as we gather to recognize the achievement of a significant milestone. It marks an end and a beginning. We want to do our best to make this occasion successful and memorable. I ask you to help in this effort.
I have included a schedule of Commencement rehearsals and activities. I call your attention especially to Class Day—a celebration of the seniors’ last year in school. It celebrates not only the accomplishments of several individuals who are awarded prizes, but also the spirit and memories of the class as a whole as they watch a video of their senior year and sing their class song. It is a formal occasion at which students wear their caps and gowns for the first time. I encourage you to attend.
You can help us most by encouraging your child to be in attendance at both the rehearsals and the exercises. We have scheduled our rehearsals in the most convenient way that we can. Please help us to succeed in this last, happy occasion in your child’s Academy experience.
The graduation fee of $50 is payable to the Business Office by May 29. This fee includes the senior’s yearbook, prom, cap and gown, and diploma. Students may pick up their tickets for Commencement in the Headmaster’s Office with receipt of payment of the fee. There is seating for seven persons per student. Please note: Guests will be admitted starting at 8:30 a.m. on Commencement morning. Only guests holding tickets will be admitted prior to 9:50 a.m. Guests without tickets will be admitted at 9:50 a.m. but cannot be assured a seat.
We look forward to sharing a happy Commencement weekend with you. St. Johnsbury is beautiful in June, and the completion of one’s high school education is an accomplishment worth celebrating. We hope you will be able to join in our celebrations.
Very sincerely yours,
Thomas W. Lovett
