    • The Things They Left Behind 4:30 PM to 5:30 PMFuller Hall

Based on a short story by Stephen King, the play follows Scott Staley, a resident of upper Manhattan who worked in the World Trade Center prior to September 11, 2001.  Through sheer luck he did not go to work that day, and spent the day watching the horror unfold, knowing the fates of the coworkers would be his had he had a “normal” day.  One year later, objects begin to appear in his apartment – objects that belonged to his coworkers who died that day, objects that were destroyed when the towers fell.  And the objects are not quiet.  Scott finds himself haunted not only by a deep sense of survivor’s guilt, but by the ghosts of all those things that were left behind, and must grapple with a way to both banish the ghosts from his life and somehow move on from his own sense of tragedy.

The adaptation is written and directed by Jason Scherer, will be performed for the public on Thursday at 4:30pm with a Q&A afterwards, and will then be performed as part of the Vermont One-Act Drama Festival on Saturday the March 14 at People’s Academy.
