Don't Rip; Weave

Chef Gerry Prevost, as the Guest Speaker of this year's National Honor Society (NHS) Induction, was the last speaker of the afternoon, and he gave a powerful and poignant speech that emphasized the same theme that had woven together the student speeches before him. Katie Girouard, Grace Larocque, Anna Piro, and Zoe Montague each spoke about the mission of the organization: to serve others by pursuing leadership, scholarship, character, and, of course, service. In his occasionally emotional remarks, Chef recounted his high school years and the life lessons that his parents and mentors taught him. He summed them up in the motto "live to give."

SJA Theatre to Present The Just So Stories

 

The award-winning St. Johnsbury Academy Theatre will present its Vermont Regional Drama Festival-winning production of Rudyard Kipling's The Just So Stories in Fuller Hall on Monday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m.

A large number of students participated in the 75th Northeast Districts Music Festival at North Country Union High School last weekend. Members of the Festival Concert Band performed Friday as did the Academy Wind Quintet. Saturday's concert featured the Wind Ensemble and Chorus. Kaci Cochran received the Richard Croudis Scholarship. Many of these students will also take part in the Vermont All State Music Festival in May. Senior Sam Bulpin recited a poem for the devotional in the State House of Representatives last week. This followed his success in the Vermont Poetry Out Loud competition in which he finished second in the state finals.
