It Is Good to Come Together

For the first time in years, we had enough snow for snow sculptures, and despite the cold temperatures and multiple demands of school life, bands of students gathered outside of the buildings on Main Street to learn again the skills of carving art from icy blocks of snow. Freshmen in front of Ranger, Sophomores in front of Severance, Juniors near Fuller, and Seniors in front of the Headmaster's Office—these hardy souls lugged buckets of water to firm up the base and did their best with shovels and other tools to create sculptures in line with their various themes. While the skills and institutional knowledge needed to build a snow sculpture may have left with long-time art teacher Larry Golden when he retired, the class spirit and good energy generated by the effort obviously had not.
