An Awesome Array of Opportunities

In a week that saw a morning meeting with the Agency of Education on Monday and late starts on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, I only got the chance to speak in Chapel once this week, and that was in South Church Hall to the Class of 2022 on Wednesday. That morning, I presented to our newest students about all of the opportunities that stood before them as they charted their course toward graduation. In reflecting on all of those opportunities, I was a bit overwhelmed myself; I can't imagine what it must have been like trying to take in all of the exciting options being presented.

Senior Awarded 3rd Place in Senator Sanders' Essay Contest

 

St. Johnsbury Academy senior Joseph Brody was awarded 3rd place in the 2019 State of the Union essay contest sponsored by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In addition,  Alexis Jablonski '19, and Anysa Denby '21 were recognized as finalists.

The Hilltones competed in WGBH's Sing That Thing! They were excited!

Athletic Director David McGinn will be inducted in the the VPA Hall of Fame. From the Caledonian-Record: "David McGinn is being inducted as a student-athlete. Currently, the Hilltopper basketball coach as well as athletic director, he was an exceptional three-sport athlete at Brattleboro Union High School. As a pitcher he was 10-4 record as the Colonels (13-6) won the Class L title in 1978. He won all four playoff games allowing one run in 26 innings. McGinn scored 1,048 points in basketball, third all-time for the Colonels, and led the Southern Vermont League with 21 points per game. He was a quarterback and punter on the football team, and later coached at Oxbow and Thetford Academy as well as SJA. He lives in Danville."
