I, Too, Sing St. Johnsbury

 

"Excuse me! Excuse, me, sir? Can I share a poem with you?"

 

The voice behind me was urgent; it conveyed more than a simple request. I was hurrying from the Convention Center in Baltimore back to my hotel to get out of the cold March wind and get some lunch before the afternoon sessions. However, as a lover of literature and as one who has a hard time saying no, I turned around.

Colwell Speaker Max Waltmann

Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fireside in Mayo, the Colwell Center will host a guest speaker from Sweden by way of Harvard's Weatherhead Center. Dr. Max Waltmann is an expert on the legal challenges to sexual exploitation. He will be comparing various countries' approaches to dealing with those topics. Please join us!

The Science Olympiad team headed home after a successful day with their medals! The Varsity Team won first place for Vermont, against six Vermont teams and placed fourth overall, out of 30 competing teams from NH and VT. Team members took home first place finishes in Anatomy and Physiology, Dynamic Planet, and Rocks and Minerals, second place in Electric Vehicle and Write It/Do It, third place in Robot Arm, fifth place in Wind Power, and sixth place in Towers.

 

The Junior Varsity Team took home a first place finish in Electric Vehicle, second place in Hovercraft, Robot Arm, and Towers, and a fifth place in Experimental Design. As a team, they came in 9th place overall.

Congratulations to our FIRST Robotics team Tech Storm on their efforts at the competition this weekend. They cracked the top ten with a #8 ranking and received special recognition for their robot's design. They will move on to New England Regionals this Thursday and Friday.
