Responding with Hope

On Monday morning, Social Studies Teacher Emmet Quinn reminded students that elections are often determined by emotions as much as they are by reasoning, and he closed his talk by saying that no matter what happened on Tuesday, we will still be who we are—still sitting next to and working with the same people, regardless of the election’s outcome. On Tuesday, I spoke about my hope that more young people would consider careers in public service, perhaps running for one of the 500,000 elected positions that come open every year, in order to have a seat at the table when important issues are decided. On Wednesday morning, both Emmet’s reminder and my exhortation became very important.

The main area of discussion at the event will be the Academy’s budgetary process as the school works to set tuition for the 2017-2018 school year. Several budget scenarios will be explained in advance of this year’s Town Meeting season. Headmaster Tom Lovett and members of the Administrative Team will be available to answer questions.
