An Educated Electorate

On Tuesday morning, the day of the Vice Presidential Debate, Social Studies teacher Peter Mantius spoke in Fuller Hall as part of a series of talks being given by Social Studies faculty members as a lead up to the election. The week before, Department Chair Dave Eckhardt spoke about mudslinging in politics: its history in American elections, its effect on the electorate, and his hope that our students are able to see through the mud and make informed decisions. Peter’s talk was about political parties: why we should care about them, their history in American elections, and what our students could do about them.
